Harry Hoehne, a firefighter and Church of God layman from Hamilton, Ontario, spearheaded an effort to donate a sea-freight container of gospel literature to the Church of God in Uganda last year. The container held 2,200 copies of the songbook Camp Meeting Favorites along with thousands of pieces of surplus Sunday school curriculum and other books. Church of God Ministries (CGM) and Warner Press made the items available for this effort at deep discounts or at no charge.
Mr. Hoehne said the Canadian sponsors were especially happy to send the songbooks “to allow our sister churches to share in the beautiful and theologically rich Church of God heritage songs across the country and to increase the number of songs they can sing in a service. I am very thankful that the container has safely crossed those many miles from Hamilton, Ontario, to Kampala, Uganda, and that the songbooks are being handed out.”
Writing to Joe Allison, CGM coordinator of Publishing and Creative Services, Mr. Hoehne said, “Thank you for your prompt response and generous offer! I am overwhelmed at the support to supply needed resources at a great price…I pray that these [curriculum] resources as well as the songbooks will bear much fruit for eternity.” |
